    Covid-19 has caused many people to have to stay indoors for the majority of the year. As stores, businesses, and gyms closed people have had to learn how to live without certain freedoms. Students all across the world have had to experience remote learning for the first time. Some students had the opportunity to take in-person classes temporarily. This assignment gave the opportunity for students to enact their day to day lives. Creating a vlog type video that gives the opportunity for a viewer to journey into someone's life. It can be quite difficult to create a portrait of your life. 

Some people may find their lives to be boring and others may feel like their lives are exciting. No matter what end of the spectrum a person is on, videos allow you to capture some of the most uninteresting things and bring them to life. During the pandemic it can be quite easy to capture highlights of your life when you are stuck indoors for months. Someone can just record themselves staring at their walls for weeks until the pandemic ends.  Shooting videos causes a person to learn how to work angles and get the best shot possible. It allows a person to be creative and find special moments to take videos. Finding any specific moment to take videos of a pet, at the gym, work or even at the grocery store allows the viewer to have a sense of relatability. Making a vlog type video allows the viewer to take a journey into your day to day life and it can actually look cooler on video. Editing videos on adobe premiere can be difficult when someone is not used to it. Navigating through effects constantly can make it fun but also frustrating. A person can start thinking too much and change more than what they need to. Adding too many effects can make the video look sloppy. Sometimes it is better to just keep things as simple as possible. Having to keep a video limited to a certain time frame can also be very difficult to do. Constantly chopping off parts of the video to fit in the specific time frame but also make it cohesive to the story you are trying to portray. When the video is finally completed now it is time to post the video. This is an exhilarating experience and is the less headache out of the two. 

Just like the saying “A picture lasts long but a video lasts longer,” visuals give a person the opportunity to see things almost as if it was in person. Instead of a still frame like a picture a video can capture the moment in real time. They can also help extend verbal and nonverbal forms of communication. The graphics, animation and music can make a viewer more interested than looking at a picture. It also is more personal and allows the creator to be more relatable. Which makes it effective at communicating ideas besides writing or pictures. 


The public nature did not affect the content of the video. Self-portraits have an interesting and unique way of telling someone's life. Being able to create a day to day vlog during the Covid-19 pandemic is similar to other people because of the lockdown. Vlogs are easily shareable, engaging and accessible to a mobile-device. A Point of view on things can also make a person feel that they are actually with you as you film  your day. Vlogs can be more attractive to a person because of the visual component. The beautiful transitions, music, the colorful food, and a quick glimpse of yourself is more exciting to the viewer. Which is an example of why some people may prefer vlogs over blogs. Getting personal takes a video of your pet cat, a selfie in the gym, the delicious food you have eaten as well as being at your job. This video the viewer was able to see the beginning of the day to the end and what it is like to be a student in Quarantine during these times. Quarantine Life gives a unique perspective because it allows you to see that students are not only completing assignments from their classes but also have many other responsibilities.

Although there is a variation of ups and downs with the process of shooting videos for a vlog, there are many great achievements that can come with it. The feeling of accomplishment when you finish creating a video is a wonderful experience.
